When to Google, When to ForumOne of the coolest things about dA is it's not just for sharing art, it's for sharing ideas about art. If you're stuck on a piece, or you'd like to learn to how to do something that just hasn't been clicking in tutorials or class, the art-related forums are a great place to look!
But the best part about the forums is also the riskiest part: anyone can answer! Which means you'll get opinions which contradict each other, 'industry facts' from people who heard it elsewhere on the internet, people who don't quite understand your original question...it's a mess!
So how can you back up all that different advice, or alternately open with a question that won't be confusing?

but on top of that, I'm celebrating just over a year's worth of trying to give art a substantial shot in my life. So I'm taking a quick look back...
I always grew up around art. I'm a part of a family that loves going to museums and galleries, loves to read, and loves to make things for fun. I also studied art in school--not the practical side of making art, but the theoretical stuff, like art history, historical preservation, and appreciation. In my spare time, growing up, I doodled and tried to draw, but right around the time I hit high school I stopped drawing. i think it's because that's around the time I decided to devote my life to writing. So high school up until now, that's been my major creative output in my life (besides music).
Grad school kind of reopened my eyes to art because my program has awesome classes like "writing for comics and manga" and I also took a few workshops on graphic novels. Add to that art workshop

So today in english class my teacher was trying to get our attention because we're going to read the Crucible, but we were all mehasdjfsdhfk and stuff, so she just got up and left.
No joke, she stood up and went over the the class across from us and taught them, while their teacher came and taught us.

Progress, Join.Me, Professionalism, and LULZStill working anyway
While the big livestream event I had planned pretty much died yesterday, I am still going ahead with finishing the illustration and documenting my progress. I'm gonna put it all together into a video when I'm done and upload it to YouTube or wherever, so everyone can see it all come together. Future Livestreaming
After the livestream bust yesterday, I got a lot of helpful tips on where to go for livestreaming alternatives. The most suggested was something called join.me. You can all rest assured that I will be looking into those alternative methods of streaming when I get a chance to sit down and do some tests of my own. I've always had issues with Livestream, so thank you for suggesting some alternatives.

Help the HardDrive SaleHey guys. I wanted to make a separate journal about this, since there've been some questions. Plus I would be eternally grateful for anyone who would be willing to repost this. The more commissions the better!
THE ISSUE:
Recently I brought my hard drive into work to give a friend a soundtrack and it fell on the floor in the process and now doesn't work.
Normally we'd say oh well and get a new hard drive, BUT
4 years worth of my daughters pictures, and 6 years worth of animation files from my past studio jobs are on that drive, and I need to get them back.
Do do this we will either need to pay 550 or 850 (depending on how broken the drive is)
SOO to help raise money to pay for this expense I am holding a sale
on SINGLE CHARACTER, SOLID COLOUR, NON-STEAMPUNK commissions.
It will be all I'm doing for the next two weeks.
I am selling them for 10 dollars. I am willing to do multiple characters in one commission but they are 10$ a piece.

Child Cancer Awareness PLEASE READ!

Child Cancer Awareness

As many of you know, my nephew is under-going the fight for his life against cancer right now. He is a beautiful boy who has a smile that can light up the world, the most gorgeous blue eyes that show the strongest love, and the spirit in him to fight. I could not imagine losing him, or watching the fight he has been going through, go in vain. He got diagnosed shortly after his first birthday, and since then, has been through a non-stop battle. It affects my family in such a difficult way, I can only imagine what my beautiful boy is experiencing.

What YOU Can Do

This is where you come in, and I pray with all my heart, you decide to help and spread the word. Firstly, I ask you to watch this video:

My Challenge For YOU

This is where I challenge all you amazing artists even further. I challenge you to create a picture, one picture, where your character represents Child Cancer Awareness. For this, all you have to do is draw your character with a gold ribbon, which represents Child Cancer Awareness. Once you have done that, link the picture to me, and if possible, include the link of this journal in the description of the picture. I will include a folder with pictures made!

Secondly, for artists who have paypal commissions, I challenge you to take some Child Cancer Awareness commissions and donate the proceedings to the site. i hate to see him in the hospital it makes me feel helpless.
at least my family has enough money to help him.

especially with your brother fighting.
my heart goes out to you and your family.

luckily for us, we live in canada, so a large portion
of his treatment was paid for. however, he's in the states now
for hopefully his last treatment period...
which is very expensive. (no free health care)
